Nominations sought for Flora Roberts and G.A. Ross graduation awards

Nominations are being accepted for the 2023 Flora Roberts and G.A. Ross awards to recognize outstanding senior students. The top two students will each receive one of the awards.

Purdue faculty and staff are invited to nominate students for these awards in recognition of academic and personal achievements. Matching these achievements with the criteria for the awards helps to assure the quality envisioned by Flora Roberts and G.A. Ross.

The Flora Roberts Award and the G.A. Ross Award will be presented by the dean of students to two students who meet the following criteria:

• Graduating senior in December 2022, May 2023 or August 2023
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
• Commitment to scholarship (undergraduate research, publications, etc.)
• Commitment to leadership and service (on campus or in the community)
• Outstanding character

The award recipients will receive a $2,000 gift, medallion, certificate and each will have their name inscribed on the permanent award obelisk on the Purdue Mall.

A committee of undergraduate peers selects each award recipient. Nominations include written descriptions of the quality areas listed above and up to three letters of support. The letters of support may be from an individual on or off campus who is able to help describe the student’s attributes.

Nominations containing greater detail have an increased likelihood of being selected. To assist you with nominations, faculty and staff may consider informing the student they are likely to be considered for an award. This would allow the student to compile a detailed list of honors, accomplishments and activities, or share a résumé. Asking the student to list the names and contact information for other faculty members or advisors who might be willing to submit letters of support will assist you in making those requests. Faculty and staff are asked to not mention the Roberts or Ross awards by name in order to surprise student recipients.
